Job summary

The Department of Taxation in Hawaii seeks a dedicated investigator to detect and document violations of state tax laws. You will gather information, prepare comprehensive reports, and conduct investigations, including covert activities.

You may also serve process and apply for warrants while upholding strict evidentiary standards. Travel (interstate and intrastate) is required, with duties possibly including night/weekend hours to close cases.

Qualifications

• 15 credits in accounting is desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret statutes, rules and complex written material.
• Excellent writing and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Gathers information and prepares written reports on tax violations.
• Conducts investigations including covert means and serves process as needed.
• Enforces tax laws under Title 14, Taxation and Section 231.
