Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Revenue is seeking a Revenue Tax Technician (S) to join the Examination Division. This role performs technical analyses of returns and supports taxpayers in compliance.

You will review federal and state individual income tax returns, maintain audit databases, and contribute to accurate determinations. Excellent time management and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of business and accounting principles.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge of taxation principles and terminology.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Educate and assist taxpayers in areas of tax compliance and reporting procedures.
• Review and analyze data on federal and state individual income tax returns.
• Access and review taxpayer account information and enter information into ITAS.
• Assist in maintenance of databases and spreadsheets related to audit programs.
• Demonstrate courteous, professional behavior with taxpayers and coworkers.
