Job summary

Northern Trust Corp seeks a Quantitative Equity Portfolio Manager to oversee tax-aware equity portfolios for high-net-worth and institutional clients in Chicago. You will blend quantitative portfolio construction, risk oversight and direct client engagement to deliver tailored investment outcomes.

Responsibilities include daily portfolio review for tax-loss harvesting, rebalancing and risk control, plus collaboration with trading, research and operations to optimize client objectives.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in investment management or equity portfolio management.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance/economics/math or related field; CFA preferred.
• Experience with tax-aware portfolios and direct indexing is preferred.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage tax-aware equity portfolios for high-net-worth, family-office and institutional clients.
• Review portfolios and optimization outputs to identify tax-loss-harvesting, cash-management, rebalancing and risk-control opportunities.
• Construct and rebalance portfolios to client-directed benchmarks and customized objectives while managing tracking error and costs.
• Coordinate with trading, research, technology, operations, performance, risk, compliance and tax partners; document decisions and escalate issues.
• Explain portfolio decisions and outcomes to clients and internal partners; participate in prospect meetings and due diligence.
