Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking an experienced equity index portfolio management professional to manage a range of portfolios and oversee daily implementation activities. You will work with traders and research teams to optimize execution and minimize costs, while ensuring compliance with client mandates and risk controls.

The role emphasizes portfolio construction, benchmark alignment, and strategic technology initiatives to enhance efficiency and investment outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in equity index portfolio management or related investment roles.
• Strong understanding of benchmark construction and index replication.
• Experience handling corporate actions, index rebalances, and transitions.
• Proficient communication with clients and senior management.

Responsibilities

• Manage a range of equity index portfolios, collective investment funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts, ensuring adherence to client guidelines and regulatory constraints.
• Lead portfolio implementation for index reconstitutions, corporate actions, mergers, spin-offs, IPOs, deletions, rights offerings and other benchmark events.
• Utilize portfolio management and trading platforms (e.g., Aladdin) to support portfolio construction and oversight, while pursuing automation and efficiency improvements.
• Monitor portfolio risk exposures, benchmark alignment, liquidity and operational risks; ensure compliance with investment guidelines and regulatory obligations.
• Collaborate with relationship managers, consultants, and sales teams to support client meetings, due diligence reviews, and RFPs.
