The Department of Revenue, Tax Division is recruiting for a Lead Auditor in Anchorage!
This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our

Serve as the lead auditor for either the Charitable Gaming & Excise Taxes group or the Fisheries & Special Taxes group, conducting audits and audit reviews to ensure compliance with Alaska tax laws.
Promote voluntary compliance through audits, compliance projects, taxpayer outreach, regulatory interpretation, and clear communication with taxpayers and stakeholders.
Mentor, train, and review the work of auditors and tax technicians while providing technical guidance on statutes, regulations, audit procedures, licensing, bonding, and tax program requirements.
Support the group supervisor in managing assigned tax programs, including system testing, form development, licensing, training development, technical support, and preparation of regulatory and policy guidance.
We have a strong preference for candidates with demonstrated experience analyzing complex tax or financial data, mentoring and developing others, and communicating technical information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.

Tax Law: Knowledge of accounting and tax law for individuals, sole proprietorships, partnerships, and/or corporations.
Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional experience in accounting, finance, tax, auditing, examining, preparing, reviewing, or reconciling financial accounts and data.
