Job summary

The State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue seeks a Tax Attorney to represent the department in tax cases before the Tax Appeals Commission and in cases before other administrative agencies and the courts, and to provide legal advice and opinions on a variety of legal questions.

The position is headquartered in Madison at the State Revenue Building; remote work up to 60% is possible during probation, with compensation between $51.56 and $60.35 per hour and excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited law school.
• Possession of a license to practice law in the State of Wisconsin (WI); OR will be licensed to practice law in WI prior to the appointment date.
• Tax or civil litigation education or experience.
• Civil litigation (required)

Responsibilities

• Represent the Department of Revenue in tax cases before the Tax Appeals Commission and in cases before other administrative agencies and the courts, and in various Ch. 227 proceedings before hearing examiners; provide legal advice and opinions on a variety of legal questions; and review proposed legislation and rules.
