Job summary

Repsol Renewables North America is seeking a Tax Associate to support the U.S. tax function in a hybrid Downtown Houston role. The position covers indirect tax, sales/use tax, property tax, and broader corporate tax matters, coordinating with internal teams and external advisors.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of U.S. tax compliance experience, a Bachelor’s degree, and proficiency in MS Office. A CPA/CMI or SAP experience is a plus, with a collaborative, detail‑oriented mindset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3–5 years of professional U.S. tax compliance experience, including sales/use tax.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • CPA/CMI preferred; SAP and tax research tools experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the tax compliance calendar and ensure timely filings.
  • Prepare, file and coordinate payment of sales/use tax and other state/local taxes.
  • Oversee third-party preparation of property tax returns and related work papers.
  • Support corporate tax compliance and provision calculations.
  • Review invoices, contracts, and PO's to determine taxability and exemptions.
  • Manage tax registrations, permits, and business licenses.
  • Prepare monthly GL reconciliations for tax accounts.
  • Coordinate tax research and analysis for local incentives and abatements.
  • Gather documentation and prepare responses for tax audits.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide tax guidance.

Job Summary

The Tax Associate will support the Repsol Renewables U.S. tax function, with responsibilities spanning indirect tax compliance and broader corporate tax matters. The role includes managing sales/use tax, property tax, and other indirect tax obligations, as well as supporting general tax compliance, tax accounting, research, and advisory activities. This position will collaborate closely with internal departments and external advisors to ensure timely filings, maintain compliance, and provide tax guidance on business initiatives, incentives, and tax credit-related matters. This position is based in Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the tax compliance calendar and monitor to ensure that all tax filings are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Prepare, file and coordinate payment of sales/use tax and other state and local taxes.
  • Oversee third-party preparation of property tax returns and related work papers.
  • Support corporate tax compliance and provision calculations.
  • Review invoices, contracts, and purchase orders to determine taxability and issue/maintain customer exemption certificates.
  • Manage tax registrations, permits, and business licenses.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations for tax accounts.
  • Coordinate tax research and analysis for local tax incentives, property tax abatements, and tax credit-related matters.
  • Gather documentation and prepare responses for tax audits.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide guidance on tax treatments and implications.
