Distinct | North America in Cleveland is seeking a Tax Associate to join our growing midmarket CPA firm. You’ll work with a variety of clients, build your technical tax knowledge, and gradually take on more responsibility as your confidence grows.
Early in your tax career, you’ll receive mentorship, opportunities to ask questions, and exposure to different tax areas beyond routine work. Hybrid office with flexible scheduling helps balance learning and work life.
Your first few years in public accounting can make a pretty big difference to the rest of your career.
Not necessarily because of the clients you're working with or the software you're learning, but because of the people you're learning from.
And I think that's something that's quite easy to overlook when you're choosing a firm.
I'm working with a growing, midmarket CPA firm in Cleveland that's looking for a Tax Associate to join their team.
And for someone who's fairly early on in their tax career, I think there's a lot to like about this one.
For starters, you'll be surrounded by experienced accountants who actually want to help you get better at what you do.
You'll have plenty of mentorship, opportunities to ask questions (including the ones you think you should probably know the answer to by now) and the chance to get involved in different areas of tax rather than being stuck doing the same thing every day.
Because let's face it, nobody comes out of college knowing everything about tax.
You'll work with a variety of clients, build your technical knowledge and gradually take on more responsibility as your confidence grows.
And being a midmarket firm, I think you get quite a nice balance.
They're big enough to have the resources, training and opportunities you'd expect from an established CPA firm, but small enough that you'll actually get to know the people you're working with.
There's hybrid working too, so you get the benefit of learning from people in the office without having to be there five days a week.
And looking a little further ahead, there's plenty of room to grow.
Whether that's becoming a Tax Senior, moving into management one day or even working towards Partnership, there's a career path here if that's what you want.
But you don't need to have all of that figured out just yet.
If you have a couple of years in public accounting, this is a really good place to build your career.
CPA or EA qualifications are great, but they're not essential. What's more important is that you're keen to learn, willing to get involved and genuinely interested in building a career in tax.
