Distinct | North America’s Columbus office is seeking a Tax Senior to join a small team that serves sizable clients in real estate, construction, and family offices. The role blends tax preparation and review with direct client interaction, offering a chance to grow with people who’ve been with the firm for years.
With a focus on broad public accounting experience rather than a narrow tax niche, this position provides visibility with partners and room to take on more responsibility over time.
Small firm doesn't have to mean small clients.
This Columbus CPA firm has been around for more than 80 years and works with some surprisingly large clients for a team of its size, particularly across real estate, construction and
family offices.
They're also turning work away at the moment as they don't want to overload the existing team, so they're looking for another Tax Senior to come in and grow with them.
Your role would be a mixture of preparing and reviewing tax work, working directly with clients and learning from people who've been with the firm for years.
It's mainly a tax practice, with some compilation and review work mixed in, so it's a good option
if you want to keep building a broad public accounting background rather than getting pushed into one very specific corner of tax.
And because it's a smaller team, there's nowhere near as much distance between you and the Partners.
You'll get to know your clients, have your work noticed and gradually take on more responsibility as you develop.
There's room to progress too. One of the senior Partners is getting closer to retirement and the firm knows they need good people coming through behind the current leadership.
If you want to progress, there's opportunity. If you just want interesting work, good people around you and a stable firm, that works too.
If you're a Tax Senior who likes the idea of a smaller firm but doesn't want smaller or less interesting work, this one is worth a conversation.
I start at 6am EST, so mornings work. After 5pm is fine too, although I may be slightly less lively.
You don't need to tick every single box. If you've got good public accounting tax experience and most of the rest sounds right, it's worth a conversation.
