Job summary

Distinct | North America in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Tax Associate to join a growing CPA firm where you'll build experience across individual, partnership and corporate tax while gaining exposure to multistate and international clients.

You'll work with seniors, managers, and partners, preparing federal and state returns, and supporting cross-border compliance as your experience develops. This hybrid role emphasizes development toward Senior Tax Associate.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of U.S. public accounting/tax experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA eligible or pursuing CPA license.
• Experience preparing individual or business tax returns.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Interest in developing across domestic and international tax.
• Previous CPA firm/public accounting experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state income tax returns.
• Prepare Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S and 1120.
• Prepare supporting schedules and tax workpapers.
• Assist with partnership and pass-through entity returns.
• Work across clients operating in multiple states.
• Assist with state and local filing requirements.
• Support tax projections and planning calculations.
• Research straightforward federal and state tax issues.
• Assist with IRS and state tax notices.
• Communicate with clients to obtain tax information.
• Gain exposure to foreign-owned businesses and international reporting.
• Assist with FBAR, FATCA and other cross-border compliance as your experience develops.

What they're looking for:

• 2+ years of U.S. public accounting/tax experience preferred
• Previous internship or CPA firm tax experience considered
• Experience preparing individual or business tax returns
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• CPA eligible or interested in pursuing the CPA license
• Understanding of basic federal income tax concepts
• Exposure to Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S or 1120
• Strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working with multiple deadlines
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Interested in developing across both domestic and international tax
• Previous CPA firm/public accounting experience strongly preferred
