Job summary

Edward Jones is seeking a Tax Analyst II to join the Income Tax team. The role supports tax compliance, preparation of tax provisions, and data-driven improvements across U.S. federal/state and Canadian filings for partnerships and C‑corporations.

Ideal candidates have a BA in Accounting/Finance, CPA progression, 2+ years of tax experience, and strong Excel/data skills; public accounting experience is a plus. Located in the St. Louis area or nearby, with office-based work expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
  • Two+ years of relevant tax experience preferred, ideally with complex entities.
  • Experience in public accounting is a plus; strong Excel and data handling skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare calculations supporting income tax compliance across U.S. federal, state, and Canadian filings for partnerships and C‑corporations.
  • Prepare monthly tax accruals and income tax provision calculations.
  • Review and validate income tax deliverables to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Use automation and data tools to prepare partnership tax returns and workpapers; ensure timely, scalable processes.
  • Extract, merge, transform, and reconcile data from multiple systems to support ASC 740 calculations, filings, and reconciliations.
  • Provide income tax support to partnership accounting and services, respond to inquiries, resolve issues as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls, including AI and automation.

Overview

We are seeking a Tax Analyst II to join our Income Tax team, a core function supporting the firm’s financial reporting and compliance, and partner experience. This role is responsible for assistance with income tax filing and support.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare calculations supporting the firm’s income tax compliance across all applicable jurisdictions, including U.S. federal, U.S. state, and Canadian filings for domestic and Canadian partnerships and C-corporations.
  • Prepare monthly tax accruals and income tax provision calculations
  • Assist with the review and validation of income tax deliverables prepared internally and by third‑party service providers to ensure accuracy and completeness of core compliance
  • Utilize automation and data tools to prepare partnership tax returns and supporting workpapers, ensuring accurate, timely, and scalable compliance processes
  • Extract, merge, transform, and reconcile data from multiple systems and sources to support income tax calculations (ASC 740), filings, and reconciliations
  • Provide income tax support to partnership accounting and partner services, responding to inquiries and assisting with issue resolution as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls, including the use of AI, automation, and data tools to enhance efficiency, consistency, and data quality

The Tax Analyst II will prepare and support assigned components of the workstreams above and will continue to develop a strong foundation in U.S. federal and state tax principles. Success in this role requires strong organizational and analytical skills, effective collaboration and communication, attention to detail, and the ability to execute responsibilities in a timely manner.

What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
  • CPA or progress toward completion, is a plus
  • Two or more years of relevant tax experience preferred, ideally supporting complex entities
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including the ability to work with complex formulas and large datasets

  • Experience with financial systems or analytics tools such as Oracle, PeopleSoft Financials, Power BI (DAX), Tableau, or Alteryx
  • Working knowledge of partnership income tax concepts
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail across multiple priorities
  • Ability to learn and apply complex concepts in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
  • Interest in leveraging AI or automation tools to improve efficiency and data quality

Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week.
