Job summary

Jobtailor in Montpelier, VT is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Analyst/Tax Examiner to support taxpayers by phone, email and in person and to review returns for accuracy.

You will collaborate with staff to meet deadlines, expand knowledge of extension tax rules and local government, and communicate complex topics clearly to diverse individuals.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher with 1+ year tax processing experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of related experience.
• Experience as Tax Analyst I or Tax Examiner II.
• Extension tax knowledge.
• Knowledge of local government.
• Excellent communication and ability to explain complex topics.

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher AND at least one (1) year or more of experience in accounting, auditing, or tax processing related duties.
• High school diploma or equivalent or higher AND at least three (3) years of experience in accounting, auditing, tax preparation, tax processing, financial operations/administration, analytics, or related field.
• One (1) year or more as a Tax Analyst I or Tax Examiner II.
• Extension tax knowledge.
• Experience in business or fiscal duties.
• Knowledge of local government.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate challenging topics to individuals with varied backgrounds.
• A desire to continue to learn and grow.
