RealtySouth in Des Moines, IA seeks a Tax Analyst II to support income tax compliance and planning. You will prepare federal/state tax returns, support monthly tax provisions, and assist with estimated payments, under moderate supervision.

The role involves researching tax questions, communicating with stakeholders, and contributing to process improvements. Bachelor’s in accounting/finance is required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience with federal/state income tax returns and tax provisions is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare intermediate federal and state income tax returns.
  • Assist with monthly tax provisions and tax account roll-forwards.
  • Assist in quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments.
  • Provide input for project planning and research tax questions as needed.
  • Communicate with internal/external stakeholders including tax authorities and consultants.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Description

Under moderate supervision, the Tax Analyst IIposition focuses on applying/developing knowledge of tax and accounting principles for income taxes,andpreparing the federal and state income tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payments, monthly tax provisions,and associated supporting work papers for thecompany.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of the compliance team to prepare intermediate level federal andstateincome tax returns.(50-60%)
  • Assistwithpreparingintermediatelevel United States monthly tax provisions including the associated tax account roll forward schedules and performs other tax accounting procedures.(25-30%)
  • Assistin the preparation of intermediate level quarterly federal andstateincome tax estimated payments.(5-10%)
  • Provide technical input toassistindevelopmentof project planning.(0-5%)
  • Researchfundamental tax questions as needed.(0-5%)
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including Federal and State tax authorities, and outside consultants.(0-5%)
  • Perform anyadditionalresponsibilities as requested or assigned.(0-5%)

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Advanced degree in one of these areas preferred.
Experience
  • Two or moreyearsofrelatedwork experience, with at least one year of relevant tax experience.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of tax law and procedures, tax research skills, familiarity with various tax returns and schedules.Intermediateaccounting and financial statement knowledge.
  • Intermediate level ofproficiencyin Microsoft Word and Excel,utilizingadvanced formulas, functions,dataand pivot tables.
  • Excellentoral and written communication skills.
  • Ability tomaintainsensitive and confidentialcompanyinformation.
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational, analytical, andcritical thinkingskills.
  • Aptitude to learn tax preparation software.
Other (licenses, certifications, schedule flexibility/OT, travel, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize andmanagemultiple tasks and projects concurrently.Extended work hours willbe requiredduring the tax compliance filing process or other critical times.
