Our client is a full-service, tech-forward accounting firm with 15 team members across two Nebraska offices. They specialize in providing monthly Client Accounting Services (CAS) and proactive tax strategy to small businesses. The firm is seeking an Accounting & Tax Manager to oversee financial reporting and tax functions, support client relationships, and lead a growing team.

While the role is open to fully remote candidates, preference is given to those located in Nebraska or neighboring states.

Responsibilities

• Oversee 60+ monthly small business accounts (bookkeeping + tax)
• Lead tax planning meetings, quarterly updates, and advisory sessions
• Review financials, ensure accuracy, and support the bookkeeping team
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients—answer strategic questions and guide decision-making
• Help build documentation and streamline client onboarding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
• 4+ years of experience in a firm’s CAS/bookkeeping practice focused on small, privately held clients
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) and tax software (e.g., ProConnect, UltraTax, CCH Axcess).

Salary Target Range: $100,000–$120,000 DOE

• Weekly team meetings, company-wide events, and a strong culture
• No extension season. Busy season caps around 55 hours; off-season is ~40 hours
• No billable hours. Fixed-fee model = more time with clients, less admin
• Zero interest in one-off tax work—fully focused on long-term client partnerships
• Remote-friendly with great systems, but local to Nebraska is a plus
• Clear vision, strong brand, and tons of runway for smart, strategic growth
• Clients are small businesses where you can take a true consultative approach
