Job summary

Jobot in Wheaton, IL seeks an experienced Tax & Accounting Associate to join a family-style firm. You will prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts, and lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes.

You will research complex tax issues, assist with planning strategies to minimize liabilities, and manage bookkeeping for diverse clients with strong client communication and GAAP knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in public accounting, tax preparation, or a related role
• Proficiency with tax preparation software and accounting platforms

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close processes, including account reconciliations and financial statement preparation
• Research complex tax issues and stay current on changes in tax law and regulations
• Assist with tax planning strategies to minimize client tax liabilities and ensure compliance
• Manage bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance for a portfolio of clients
• Respond to notices from taxing authorities and assist with audits as needed
• Communicate directly with clients to gather financial information, answer questions, and provide guidance
• Collaborate with senior staff and partners on client engagements and special projects
• Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential client files and documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance client service delivery
