A leading health organization is seeking a remote Tax Accountant. This role involves the accurate calculation and filing of taxes, tax research, preparation of compliance documents, and maintenance of tax-related records. Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and have at least two years of experience in corporate tax or public accounting. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are essential.

Responsible for the accurate and timely calculation, filing, and remittance of state and local income taxes, performing tax research, and assisting with the preparation of various tax compliance tasks, including federal and state tax returns. Prepares and files sales and use tax returns for multiple entities and jurisdictions. Prepares the annual sales and property tax exemption calculations and biennial tax exemption reports as required for the respective states. Assists with compiling the necessary workpapers and documents used to prepare the federal and state income tax returns for all system filings.
Responds to ad-hoc requests, analysis, and special tax projects, as needed. Assists with tax analysis of Alternative Investments. Performs tax research and analysis and documents positions taken to support tax treatment. Monitors and assists with the calculation of tax depreciation. Responsible for maintenance and monitoring of the various Department of Revenue sites and assists with all notices and internal inquiries. Assists with the coordination of federal and state audits, including income tax and sales and use tax audits.
Within area of responsibility, maintains an effective system of internal controls that creates timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting, promotes compliance with laws and regulations, and drives towards effective and efficient operations. Maintains accurate documentation of process flows, risks, and key controls for each significant business process and sub-process.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality results and perform assigned tax activities independently. Self-motivated, results-driven, and detail-oriented. Strong analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Knowledge of CCH ProSystems is desired. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a changing environment and manage multiple projects with short deadlines.
