Job summary

Flagg & Company CPAs, a public accounting firm in West Des Moines, IA, seeks dedicated Tax Accountants for a full-time, in-office role. Expect compensation between $65,000 and $100,000 with a production-based bonus potential and opportunities for professional growth, including a potential path to partnership.

Responsibilities include direct client tax and accounting work, documentation, research, and engagement planning, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and client relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
• At least two years of tax and accounting experience in a public accounting firm preferred
• Knowledge of federal and state tax rules, GAAP, payroll and sales-tax rules
• Experience with QuickBooks or Sage 50, MS Office, and income-tax software
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities
• High attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
• Commitment to high-quality work and collaboration with clients and team
• Willingness to learn and grow

Responsibilities

• Work directly with clients on tax and accounting needs including income tax and payroll
• Prepare organized workpapers supporting tax returns and financial statements
• Respond to client questions and provide timely service
• Research and resolve tax and accounting issues
• Assist management with engagement planning and project coordination
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships
• Stay current with tax and accounting standards through continuing education
