  • Assist with quarterly and year-end tax provision and tax rate analysis.
  • Prepare projections for estimated income tax liabilities and quarterly payments.
  • Research IRS information requests and state tax inquiries.
  • Contribute to transfer pricing and indirect tax projects as needed.

A Day in the Life

The Medtronic Corporate Tax Department is seeking a Tax Accountant to join our US Tax Operations team. This Tax Accountant role provides an opportunity to be a part of all US Tax required analysis, calculations and reporting for Medtronic’s US businesses.

A role in Corporate Tax offers unique experience opportunities, such as being part of a global team, collaborating with business partners throughout the company, visibility to global structures and impacts, and insight to various processes and functions across Medtronic.

The candidate will be part of the US Tax Operations team working with other tax professionals in the preparation of Medtronic’s US income tax return filings. This position will support Federal, US International, and State income tax return workstreams. This position will provide assistance with the preparation of the quarterly and year-end tax provision calculation and analysis. Other projects include assistance with US controversy matters, as well as tax planning and research.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare US taxable income reporting which impacts tax forms including Forms 1120, 1065, 5471, 8858, 1118, and state and local tax returns.

  • Prepare Forms 1120-F and related elections and statements

  • Prepare Forms W-8, W-9 and 1042 related to FATCA and cross-border payments

  • Assist with quarterly and year-end tax provision and tax rate analysis.

  • Prepare projections of estimated income tax liabilities as required for quarterly estimated income tax payments.

  • Research and draft responses to the information requests from the IRS.

  • Research and respond to inquiries from state taxing authorities.

  • Perform research and provide analysis as appropriate.

  • Work on special tax projects, with varying levels of involvement and responsibilities.

  • Assist with other tax projects as needed. May also assist with transfer pricing and/or indirect tax projects as needed as part of the US Tax Operations team.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years of corporate income tax experience
Nice to Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Strong computer skills, specifically with MS Office

  • U.S. corporate income tax experience

  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and complete work within established deadlines

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with SAP, OneStream, OneSource Tax Provision, MS Power Automate/Power Apps, or CorpTax

  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization and establish strong relationships with other individuals and teams.

  • Ability and desire to drive process improvements.

  • Must be able to adjust to changing priorities, possess strong time-management skills, able to manage multiple projects.

  • Ability to grow by assuming an increased level of responsibility

  • Strong analytical skills related to tax and operating situations

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$68,800.00 - $103,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
