We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join a dynamic public accounting environment. This role will focus on tax return preparation and review, general accounting, bookkeeping, and client support.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax regulations, general ledger accounting, and financial statements, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
This is a hands-on opportunity to work closely with experienced CPAs, gain exposure to different areas of public accounting, and build long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and various business entities.
- Perform accounting and bookkeeping activities using QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Assist clients with payroll processing and related accounting activities.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain digital workpapers supporting tax engagements.
- Review general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with financial statement preparation and related accounting activities.
- Research tax and accounting issues and assist with resolving complex technical matters.
- Prepare routine client correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and other documentation.
- Perform procedures and review workpapers to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
- Develop an understanding of clients' businesses, industries, and accounting needs.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and other service providers.
- Manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
- Follow firm policies, procedures, and quality-control standards.
- Work collaboratively with team members and contribute to a positive, professional work environment.
- Take initiative and identify opportunities to improve processes and client service.
Required / Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field.
- 3+ years of public and/or private accounting experience preferred.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred, but not required.
- Experience preparing individual and various entity tax returns is preferred.
- Strong understanding of tax preparation and general accounting concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Demonstrated initiative, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
