About The Role
Peraton is seeking a Task Lead (CIO Services) in our Linthicum, MD office in support of our Department of Defense (DoD) customer as part of a highly talented, highly motivated, and high‑performing team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of cyber investigations, digital forensics, cyber threat analysis, and mission support in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will contribute to protecting national security interests by leveraging technical expertise, analytical skills, and innovative problem‑solving to address complex cyber challenges.
Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Oversight
Serve as the senior contractor representative responsible for delivering enterprise IT services across multiple classified and unclassified environments.
- Provide strategic direction and guidance to subordinate technical teams responsible for server infrastructure, network operations, database administration, enterprise services, telecommunications systems, and related IT disciplines.
- Oversee operations supporting 12 separate networks and telecommunications systems across all classification levels.
- Ensure delivery of IT services using industry best practices and proven operational methodologies.
- Maintain responsibility for the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of contractor performance.

Technical Operations Leadership
- Lead teams responsible for building, operating, securing, defending, and extending enterprise‑scale data strategies, architectures, applications, and infrastructure services.
- Provide leadership across modern enterprise technologies including cloud computing environments, virtualized infrastructure, enterprise storage solutions, data platforms, and telecommunications systems.

Team Management & Coordination
- Lead and manage a workforce of approximately 50 professionals including network engineers, tier 1 support personnel, software developers, cloud architects, knowledge management professionals, project managers, and data scientists.
- Partner with team leads to coordinate technical execution and operational priorities.
- Ensure alignment between program objectives, technical teams, and customer requirements.

Service Delivery Management
- Provide functional expertise regarding operational and support processes within assigned service areas.
- Clarify and resolve process–related issues impacting technical teams.
- Maintain understanding of existing and future delivery processes, procedures, and tools across all functional areas.
- Monitor and report program progress against established plans through final acceptance and customer sign‑off.
- Manage, coordinate, and resolve project issues, risks, dependencies, and decisions.

Personnel & Performance Management
- Lead workforce management activities including candidate interviewing and selection, hiring decisions, onboarding and training, employee development and mentorship, work planning and task assignment, performance management, corrective action planning, and employee engagement, motivation, and recognition programs.

Business & Financial Support
- Support Government financial and business operations associated with task execution.
- Assist with resource planning and program execution activities while remaining outside inherently governmental functions.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a proven technical and operational leader with experience managing large, diverse teams supporting mission‑critical government infrastructure and data environments. They bring deep expertise in enterprise IT operations, cloud transformation, cybersecurity, data strategy, and emerging AI technologies while successfully delivering complex programs in highly secure and classified environments.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of relevant experience; supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Leadership Experience
- Minimum of one year experience in the last three years leading and supervising large, technically diverse teams supporting enterprise IT operations.
- Minimum of three years experience in the last ten years leading and supervising teams within Government networking and infrastructure environments supporting both classified and unclassified systems.
- Experience in the last five years briefing a Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) on agency‑wide planned, recommended, and directed actions to enable operational effectiveness.

Infrastructure & Network Expertise
- Minimum of three years experience in the last ten years with building, operating, securing, defending, and extending LAN, WAN, wireless networks, firewalls, routing and switching environments, IPv6 implementations, VPNs, cloud environments, virtualized servers, enterprise storage arrays, and enterprise IT and data systems.

Unified Communications Experience
- Minimum of five years experience in the last seven years with unified communications, including the design, installation, maintenance, and administration of Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems supporting unclassified, secret, and TS/SCI environments.

Modern DevSecOps & Cloud Experience
- Minimum of one year experience within the last three years leading teams operating CI/CD pipelines utilizing containerization, micro‑segmentation, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Minimum of two years experience within the last five years leading teams responsible for planning and executing migrations from legacy environments into multi‑cloud architectures and hybrid cloud environments.

Data & Artificial Intelligence Experience
- Minimum of two years experience within the last seven years leading teams responsible for developing and implementing data lakes and modern enterprise data strategies.
- Demonstrated familiarity with supervised and unsupervised machine learning, large language models (LLMs), retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and government AI use cases and implementations.

Desired Qualifications
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Active CISSP certification or equivalent IAM Level III certification.
- Experience leading teams supporting IT operations, cyberspace operations, cybersecurity initiatives, software engineering programs, and data and AI programs.
- Experience communicating agency‑wide planned, recommended, and directed actions to enable operational effectiveness and unity of effort.
- Experience overseeing teams responsible for receiving, interpreting, planning, briefing, executing, and reporting on orders issued by The Commander of USCYBERCOM, subordinate USCYBERCOM Commanders, The National Manager for National Security Systems, and other authorized commanders with command authority.

This position is fully onsite in the Baltimore‑metropolitan region.
Details
Target Salary Range: $176,000 – $282,000. Salary is determined by factors including scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and geographic location. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
