Overview

This role involves supporting Highgate’s Select Service Portfolio. The General Manager Task Force focuses on achieving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction, and employee development, while maintaining hotel integrity. The position requires travel and filling in for key General Manager vacancies within your region.

Responsibilities
  • Tour operating departments daily, making adjustments with department heads as needed.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including training sessions and review of sales and operations efforts.
  • Meet all financial review deadlines and corporate programs promptly.
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and supervisors.
  • Ensure departmental productivity and adherence to Highgate standards and procedures.
  • Develop managers for future roles through training and corporate programs.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales on prospecting and account calls to generate business.
  • Participate in hotel sales efforts, including client meetings, hosting events, and on-site visits.
  • Cover MOD shifts as scheduled.
  • Monitor management trainees’ development.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and train new managers accordingly.
  • Assist in budget processes and financial forecasting.
  • Maintain high service standards and inspect rooms regularly.
  • Process invoices daily and ensure financial documentation is submitted timely.
  • Oversee property maintenance and cleanliness through inspections and preventive programs.
  • Ensure staff interactions are friendly, courteous, and efficient.
  • Participate in hiring, performance appraisals, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  • Meet clients and prospects to support sales efforts.
  • Maintain visibility in public areas to greet and assist guests.
  • Follow security procedures, including safe audits and credit meetings.
  • Complete required training modules and certifications.
  • Attend scheduled meetings on the property.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive hotel or related experience; or a 4-year college degree with 4-5 years of experience; or a 2-year degree with 5-6 years of experience.
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and 10 pounds frequently.
  • Warm, friendly demeanor and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns effectively.
  • Multitasking and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Attentiveness, courtesy, and service orientation in all interactions.
  • Attendance at required meetings and trainings.
  • Participation in MOD coverage as needed.
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Ability to handle problems proactively and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience with multiple brands and willingness to travel.
