Job description

The Task Force Chief Engineer plays a critical role in supporting multiple Naples Hotel Group properties by providing hands-on maintenance expertise during transitional periods, staffing shortages, openings, renovations, or special projects. This role is travel-based and works on-site at assigned hotels for short- or long-term assignments, ensuring operational readiness, brand compliance, and exceptional guest experiences through the engineering/maintenance function. This position reports directly to the Director of Corporate Facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Travel to assigned hotels across the portfolio to provide engineering coverage during vacancies, openings, renovations, or high-demand periods.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Corporate Facilities and hotel General Managers to assess needs and set priorities for each assignment.
  • Be on-call 24/7 while assigned to a property for urgent maintenance needs.
  • Troubleshoot, perform, and complete repairs across hotel systems, including but not limited to: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, water treatment, ice machines, kitchen equipment, lighting, generators, fire/life safety systems, and other building systems.
  • Address guest-impact issues promptly, focusing on returning out-of-order rooms and equipment to service quickly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, ensuring brand and safety standards are met.
  • Follow brand, company, and regulatory safety standards, including OSHA, state, and local codes.
  • Assist with inspections and coordinate with fire, life safety, and building officials as needed.
  • Support storm/hurricane preparedness and property recovery efforts.
  • Maintain tools, parts, and equipment in proper working order during each assignment.
  • Perform monthly inventory of tools and supplies while on-site and communicate purchasing needs to the property General Manager.
  • Obtain bids for repair/replacement projects when needed.
  • Monitor contracted services such as HVAC PMs, elevator inspections, landscaping, pools/spas, and grease trap cleanings to ensure completion and quality.
  • Ensure grounds, pool areas, and building exteriors are maintained to brand quality levels.
  • Keep all engineering workspaces and storage areas organized and clean.
  • Use the Quore digital work order platform to log, track, and close work orders.
  • Provide updates to the Director of Corporate Facilities and property leadership on completed work, outstanding issues, and any risks impacting operations.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 3–5 years as a Chief Engineer, Facility Engineer, or equivalent in a hospitality-related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
  • Proven ability to perform hands-on maintenance work without reliance on contractors for routine repairs.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) in English.
  • Proficient in basic computer and smartphone use; experience with Quore is preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and preventative maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and perform frequent bending, stretching, and manual tasks.
Other Requirements
  • This is a salaried, travel-based position with frequent travel up to 90%+; hours will vary by assignment and include weekends and holidays.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a professional appearance.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible schedules and extended stays at assigned hotels.
