Vallarta Supermarkets in Wisconsin is seeking a Taquero to prepare food orders for customers, assist cooks with gathering ingredients, and ensure consistent portion, quality, and presentation while keeping a clean, safe work area.

You will greet customers with a smile, promote sales by suggestive selling, and collaborate with the team to meet health codes and sanitation standards. Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Friendly, courteous personality with strong customer service.
• Knowledge of Vallarta’s Taquería menu and food preparation.
• Familiarity with equipment and tools used in the Taquería department.
• Prior cook or prep helper experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of English language.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented, respectful, and professional attitude.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with outstanding, prompt service.
• Prepare food orders consistently in portion, quality, and appearance to company standards.
• Only prepare food orders that have been paid for.
• Promote sales by suggestive selling of advertised specials.
• Assist cooks in gathering and preparing meats and other ingredients.
• Notify management when products or supplies are needed.
• Transport products to and from coolers and storage areas.
• Monitor food temperatures and report discrepancies to management.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Work safely, using tools and equipment properly, and report issues immediately.
• Treat coworkers and customers respectfully; no profanity or obscene gestures.
• Follow all health codes, food safety practices, and sanitation procedures.
• Follow company dress code; change apron/smock as needed.
• Abide by all company rules and Employee Handbook policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

About the Role:

The Taquero prepares food orders for customers while assisting cooks with gathering and preparing ingredients. Physical Requirements:

• Stand and walk constantly (6–8+ hours/day).
• Frequent bending (neck/waist), squatting, twisting, and reaching above/below shoulders.
• Frequent hand use for grasping, power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Heaviest item: tray of cooked meat, 51–75 lbs., carried 2 feet.
• Exposure to extremes in temperature or humidity.
• No driving, heavy machinery, uneven ground, noise, or work at heights required.
