Job description

Esse Taco, Chef Enrique Olvera's latest project, is in Williamsburg, Brooklyn! We are currently seeking experienced Back of the house crew members to join our team. You will play a vital role in ensuring that our Taqueria operates efficiently and that our guests enjoy delicious and fresh Mexican-inspired cuisine.

This role is consistent with a cross-training model by teaching employees additional skills or tasks outside of their primary job responsibilities. By increasing workforce flexibility, and improving overall productivity, employees benefit by expanding their knowledge and expertise but also by strengthening the resilience and adaptability of the team as a whole. While this role is primarily Back of the House work, there will also be some Front of the House interactions and therefore will be eligible for tips.

DUTIES:

  • Offer every guest a friendly and sincere welcome; anticipate and be responsive to guests’ needs
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness by following kitchen safety and DOH procedures
  • Ensure stations are prepped, stocked and set up for all services
  • Must be able to follow directions and recipe procedures as well as all SOPs
  • Basic knowledge of Mexican flavors, ingredients, and cooking techniques preferred
  • Proactively bus by constantly clearing, cleaning and resetting tables; refilling waters, removing visible debris from the dining room and ensuring overall cleanliness.
  • Excellent understanding of professional cooking and knife-handling skills
  • Coordinate food orders to support timely and efficient delivery to each guest
  • Ensure proper food execution and maintain food quality to meet or exceed guests’ expectations
  • Ensure any Taqueria duties assigned to you are completed in a timely manner while maintaining a hygienic and safe environment at all times
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Flexible schedule and ability to workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Have a positive attitude and be passionate about guest service
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, energetic environment
  • Assertive self-starter - takes initiative and can work well independently
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to handle and move objects of up to 50lbs
  • 2 years experience in high volume, preferably fast-casual kitchens
