Vallarta Supermarkets in California is seeking a Taqueria cashier to provide friendly, speedy service and accurate cash handling while recording orders and maintaining high food-safety standards.

You will operate the register, balance the drawer, and prepare beverages like agua frescas and champurrado, while ensuring knowledge of the Taqueria menu and promoting sales with a courteous attitude. This is a full-time, on-site role requiring availability for weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Friendly, courteous personality with strong customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Taqueria menu, foods, and beverages.
• Ability to count, handle money, and perform simple math accurately.
• Prior cashier or restaurant/fast food experience helpful.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Basic understanding of English language.
• Responsible, professional, and positive attitude.
• Must be able to transfer to other locations within a reasonable commute.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Smile, greet, and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Accurately record customer orders while promoting sales through suggestive selling.
• Operate cash register, scale, and equipment properly.
• Follow company cash handling and payment policies.
• Balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
• Maintain full knowledge of food and beverage menus.
• Prepare and serve agua frescas, juices, coffee, and champurrado; ensure beverage quality throughout the day.
• Clean beverage jars and machines safely.
• Follow health codes, food safety standards, and sanitation practices.
• Maintain work areas, floors, tables, and salsa bar clean and replenished.
• Work safely, use equipment correctly, and report issues immediately.
• Support coworkers, assist customers, and model teamwork.
• Treat coworkers and customers respectfully at all times.
• Follow dress code and store policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
