Job summary

Clean Harbors Cleveland, OH is seeking an HM183 Tank Inspector to perform VIPK inspections and tank testing on truck mounted tanks, hazardous material certified units, and related equipment. You will ensure safety, complete required paperwork, and assist with repairs and maintenance in a safety‑moved environment.

The role requires 3+ years as a tank inspector, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience as a tank inspector (VIPK inspections) required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• HM-183 Register Inspector Certificate preferred.
• 1+ years diesel mechanic experience with heavy-duty trucks/equipment required.
• Own basic tools up to 1/2 inch; specialty tools provided as needed.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience operating heavy equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety is the top priority and follow safe work practices.
• Perform VIPK inspections (visual, internal, pressure, leakage).
• Complete paperwork timely and accurately.
• Assist with repairs and preventive maintenance in shop as required.
• Order parts and maintain inventory as needed.
• Conduct tank tests and ensure compliance with standards; perform repairs within qualifications.
• Apply decaling to tanks and maintain tools/test equipment.
• Assist in locating qualified repair shops when necessary.
