Job summary

Iron Horse Rail is seeking an experienced Tank Car Welder/Railcar Repair Technician for its Beaumont, TX operations. The role involves a mix of welding, torch cutting, mechanical repair, fabrication and general railcar maintenance on railcars, tank cars, locomotives, and related equipment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on welding (FCAW/MIG) and mechanical skills, with experience reading drawings and repair scopes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience performing FCAW and/or MIG/GMAW welding in an industrial environment.
• Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude.
• Experience using an oxy-fuel torch for cutting.
• Ability to produce clean, consistent, structurally sound welds.
• Ability to read weld symbols, drawings, and work scopes.
• Ability to safely use grinders, torches, hand tools, and power tools.
• Lift up to 75 lbs. independently and up to 150 lbs. with a team.
• Comfortable working at heights outdoors and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform FCAW (Flux Core) and MIG/GMAW welding on tank cars and other rail equipment.
• Perform occasional SMAW/Stick welding as required.
• Repair and fabricate steel components according to drawings and repair specifications.
• Prepare surfaces and weld areas using grinders and other tools.
• Inspect completed welds for quality and workmanship.
• Perform extensive oxy-fuel torch cutting to remove/repair damaged components.
• Remove, replace, and repair railcar components and perform mechanical repair as needed.
• Read weld symbols and repair instructions; work safely in an industrial setting.
