Job summary

Colonial Towing, Inc. in Savannah, GA, seeks a Tank Barge Assistant to support the safe transfer of petroleum products between trucks, barges, vessels, and facilities. Training is provided; schedule is 14 on/7 off, with a base pay of $22.00/hour plus overtime after 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities include operating transfer equipment, hydrostatic testing, and routine maintenance while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic math skills required.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must tolerate exposure to all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist PIC with tank barge transfers by operating transfer equipment and connecting trucks, pumps, and vessels.
• Perform hydrostatic testing of cargo hoses and piping.
• Perform general equipment maintenance and housekeeping duties.
• Deploy and retrieve oil spill preventative equipment.
• Conduct pre-checks on all equipment prior to use.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Tank Barge Assistant supports the safe and efficient transfer of petroleum products between trucks, barges, vessels and facilities. Tank Barge Assistants have the opportunity to become certified Tank Barge PICs (Persons in Charge).

JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES

• Assists the Person in Charge (PIC) with tank barge transfers by means of operating transfer equipment, establishing connections between trucks, pump and vessel, and communicating with vessel personnel.
• Performs hydrostatic testing of cargo hoses and piping.
• Performs general equipment maintenance and housekeeping duties.
• Deploys and retrieves oil spill preventative equipment.
• Pre-checks all equipment prior to use.
• Other duties as assigned.
