Job summary

The YWCA Seattle King Snohomish is seeking an Employment Specialist to work with TANF-referred parents to build workplace readiness and place participants in unsubsidized employment. The role supports clients from intake to job placement, coordinating with employers and local agencies to remove barriers and promote self-sufficiency.

This fully onsite position emphasizes antiracist practice and collaboration across community partners, with a focus on equity and program outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social services, social work, education, or related field.
• One to two years of demonstrated experience required performing work related to client recruitment and enrollment, career assessment and planning, support services, occupational training, workplace readiness, job placement, records maintenance, and outcomes reporting
• Bi-lingual language skills are highly desired
• Knowledge of local labor market and target client population(s)
• Demonstrated understanding of anti-racist principles and poverty intersection

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, screen, determine eligibility, stabilize, enroll, and orient program participants
• Administer, score, and interpret skills and interest assessments
• Determine clients’ job readiness, training, placement, and support service needs
• Develop and implement individual development action plans for clients
• Provide client support services and referrals to resolve barriers to employment
• Work with employers to develop job opportunities and internships
• Maintain client files and compile progress statistics
• Travel between multiple work sites within a day
