Job summary

AnazaoHealth in Tampa is seeking a Compounding Pharmacist for an overnight, on-site role. Hours are 11:00pm–9:00am, Monday through Thursday, offering a stable night-shift schedule.

Responsibilities include preparing compounds and IVs, reviewing prescriptions, supervising technicians, and ensuring quality and safety. A PharmD or BS in Pharmacy and an active license are required, with at least two years of compounding experience.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an accredited college or university.
• Active Pharmacist State License required.
• Two years of compounding pharmacist experience preferred.
• Ability to present information to groups and operate a computer.

Responsibilities

• Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy and determine formulas.
• Compounds medications/IVs using standard formulas.
• Oversees pharmacy technicians in mixing, packaging, labeling.
• Answers questions on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage.
• Maintains procedures for quality assurance and controlled substances security.
• Enters data for patient, medication and cost to pharmacy systems.
• Assays medications to verify identity, purity, strength.
• Instructs personnel on pharmacy matters.
• Reviews and files compounding batch records.
• Contacts physicians to clarify prescriptions when needed.
• May need to wear PPE in sterile rooms for certain duties.

About the Job

Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care by performing the following duties:

Key Responsibilities

• Reviews prescriptions issued by Physician or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
• Compounds medications/IVs, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
• Oversees pharmacy technicians engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
• Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals.
• Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
• Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
• Assays medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.
• Instructs personnel and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy.
• Reviews and files compounding batch records.
• Calls physicians to clarify prescriptions when needed.
• May be required to garb and don gown and other PPE to enter sterile rooms.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.S., Pharmacy) or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited college or university; at least two years related experience as a compounding pharmacist.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Ability to operate a computer.
• Current/Active Pharmacist State License required.

Working Conditions

• Employees will be required to read small print.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• This position requires sitting for extended periods of time including majority of shifts.
