Recruiter / Recruitment Coordinator Gestalt Community Schools | Human Resources | Memphis, TN Organization Description Gestalt Community Schools (GCS) is a system of K–12 college-preparatory charter schools in targeted Tennessee communities. GCS schools provide strong academic outcomes for their scholars through initiatives that include meaningful community involvement. GCS catalyzes community leadership to help revitalize the neighborhoods in which its schools operate. Instead of debating whether education impacts the community or vice versa, GCS believes the most effective way to support student achievement is to integrate education and community—a true “gestalt.”
The Recruiter / Recruitment Coordinator executes innovative recruitment strategies that attract, engage, and advance high-quality, diverse candidates for positions across Gestalt Community Schools. Grounded in GCS’s commitments to love radically, invest deeply, advocate boldly, and act purposefully, this role translates recruitment priorities into consistent outreach, compelling social media campaigns, meaningful community partnerships, and well-organized recruitment events. This position maintains a robust recruitment events calendar, coordinates visits to colleges and universities, participates in community events, and hosts opportunities that connect prospective employees with GCS’s mission and school communities. Through proactive sourcing, ongoing candidate vetting, and timely follow‑up, the Recruiter / Recruitment Coordinator maintains an active pipeline of qualified candidates to minimize vacancies in critical student‑facing positions.
Recruitment Strategy and Candidate Sourcing Execute creative, targeted recruitment strategies that build awareness of GCS career opportunities and attract qualified candidates from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences. Maintain year‑round sourcing and outreach efforts, rather than limiting recruitment activity to active vacancies or peak hiring periods. Partner with Human Resources and school leaders to identify immediate vacancies, anticipate upcoming staffing needs, and prioritize recruitment for critical student‑facing and hard‑to‑fill positions. Source and engage prospective candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, social media, resume databases, employee referrals, educator preparation programs, and community networks. Develop targeted outreach messages that communicate GCS’s mission, commitments, employee experience, and career opportunities. Recommend and test new recruitment approaches, using results and feedback to refine execution.
Recruitment Marketing and Social Media Plan, coordinate, and manage recruitment-focused social media campaigns in partnership with Human Resources and communications staff. Maintain a recruitment content calendar aligned with hiring priorities, recruitment events, and key application timelines. Create engaging recruitment content, including job highlights, employee spotlights, event promotions, and stories that communicate GCS’s impact. Maintain accurate, timely, and consistent job postings and recruitment messaging across approved platforms. Monitor campaign engagement and resulting candidate interest, applications, and hires to identify effective channels and improve future outreach. Ensure recruitment materials consistently reflect GCS’s brand, mission, and commitments.
Recruitment Events and Community Partnerships Develop, schedule, and maintain a robust recruitment events calendar that includes college and university visits, career fairs, community events, information sessions, and GCS-hosted hiring events. Coordinate event logistics, including registration, travel arrangements, promotional materials, staff participation, candidate communications, and follow-up. Represent GCS at recruitment events and communicate career opportunities, organizational commitments, and the impact of working in GCS schools. Plan and host events that introduce prospective candidates to GCS, including school tours, educator networking opportunities, virtual information sessions, and hiring open houses. Own and cultivate relationships with key talent partners and recruitment pipelines, including colleges and universities, historically Black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, educator preparation and certification programs, professional associations, and community organizations, to sustain a consistent flow of qualified, diverse candidates for current and anticipated vacancies. Create opportunities for school leaders and current employees to participate in outreach and serve as recruitment ambassadors. Track event participation, candidate leads, applications, and hiring outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and guide future event planning.
Candidate Vetting and Pipeline Management Consistently review applications, conduct initial screening conversations, and assess candidates against established position requirements and GCS commitments. Verify relevant qualifications, experience, credentials, availability, and interest before advancing candidates to hiring managers. Maintain an organized, current pipeline of screened candidates for anticipated vacancies and recurring staffing needs, with particular attention to critical student‑facing positions. Sustain relationships with prospective candidates through regular check‑ins, timely updates, and invitations to relevant events and opportunities. Coordinate interviews and selection activities, ensuring candidates and hiring teams receive clear instructions and timely communication. Gather interview feedback, track next steps, and follow up with hiring teams to prevent avoidable delays. Support reference checks, background-check coordination, offer preparation, and onboarding handoffs in partnership with Human Resources and in accordance with established procedures. Assist with planning and facilitating new staff orientation, including preparing materials and communicating logistics to help new employees feel welcomed, informed, and connected to GCS’s mission and commitments. Provide a welcoming, responsive candidate experience while maintaining confidentiality and accurate records.
Recruitment Operations and Reporting Maintain accurate candidate records, outreach activity, event information, and hiring-stage updates in the applicant tracking system and related recruitment tools. Monitor vacancies and candidate pipeline activity to identify gaps, stalled processes, and positions requiring additional outreach. Track recruitment measures such as qualified applicants, screening activity, event-generated leads, interview progression, time-to-fill, and hiring outcomes. Provide regular updates to Human Resources and school leaders on recruitment progress, upcoming events, candidate availability, and barriers to filling positions. Use recruitment data and stakeholder feedback to recommend adjustments to outreach channels, event participation, campaign messaging, and candidate follow‑up. Maintain organized recruitment materials, event supplies, contact lists, and calendars to support consistent execution.
