Job summary

The University of Rhode Island seeks a Talent Development Academic Advisor to build collaborative relationships through appreciative advising and guide students toward on-time graduation. You will support retention and coordinate individual and group advising sessions for Talent Development students, ensuring progress toward degree completion.

Key duties include coordinating support services, maintaining confidential records, and representing Talent Development on university committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of three years of combined experience in two or more of: recruiting/advising in academic programs, coordinating programs, or Title IV grant work.
• Demonstrated school-based and/or community work experience.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Program planning experience.
• Proficient written communication skills.
• Computer skills.
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advisement for Talent Development students through appreciative advising.
• Conduct weekly individual and group meetings with Talent Development students.
• Conduct Progress Check Point evaluations with Talent Development students.
• Assist in development/coordination of support services for transition, first-year experience, and retention.
