Job summary

Job description

Position Overview

As the Assistant General Manager at Takibi, you will serve as the operational anchor and team leader on the floor, translating high-level vision into daily execution. Reporting directly to the Director of Hospitality Operations, you’ll oversee floor service, mentor front-of-house staff, and drive financial performance—building an inclusive, seamless environment where exceptional hospitality thrives around the fire.

Role Details & Compensation
  • Classification: Full-time, salaried exempt
  • Reporting To: Director of Hospitality Operations, Snow Peak
  • Base Salary: $60,000–$65,000 per year (commensurate with experience), plus performance bonus opportunities
  • Schedule: 5 days per week with two consecutive days off; requires flexibility for evenings, weekdays, weekends, and select holidays
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Manage Restaurant Operations
  • Establish and maintain hospitality excellence in all areas of the restaurant, taking appropriate action to problem solve in the moment so that Takibi consistently exceeds guest expectations and inspires customers to return often
  • Participate in meetings with all BOH and FOH management staff on a regular basis
  • Oversee meetings/trainings with full restaurant staff
  • Maintain a professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards
  • Oversee safety, security, and health standards for all areas of restaurant operations; establish and enforce sanitation standards and procedures; oversee adherence to health and legal regulations; maintain security procedures and systems
  • Open and close the restaurant, completing tasks including reconciling bank statements, conducting pre-shifts meetings, managing the service floor, touching tables, running food, overseeing staff, and performing end of day reporting to Director of Hospitality (DOH)
  • Execute monthly inventory accurately and efficiently in tandem with the DOH
  • Work in tandem with the DOH to develop and execute event programming
  • Bring fresh ideas and strategies to the team to further growth and development
Supervise Team
  • Establish a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable workplace and hold all team members accountable for contributing to and preserving it
  • Train and coach team members on points of service, hospitality and product knowledge
  • Develop and oversee staffing and scheduling
  • Communicate transparently and resolve conflicts to foster a successful team that encourages the appreciation of diverse perspectives as well as cohesiveness
  • Serve as primary point of contact for restaurant staff comments, questions, and concerns; document and resolve or escalated as appropriate
  • Maintain working knowledge of all applicable labor laws and regulations and ensure that all management procedures ensure compliance with best practices

MUST HAVE
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience working in a restaurant environment
  • 3+ years management experience
Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of and passion for Japanese food and beverage preferred
  • Proficient understanding of MS Office Suite
  • Proficient knowledge of compliance related laws and regulations
  • Proficient understanding of training in food safety
  • Proficient writing and documentation experience with demonstrated success in the use of written personnel performance management tools
Abilities
  • Ability to mentor, coach and develop other leaders and build high functioning teams
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Ability to operate POS (point of sale) systems, back-of-house systems and restaurant operating systems
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with ability to motivate
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Superior time management skills with a proven ability to efficiently manage multiple, concurrent, time-sensitive projects and priorities
  • Superior problem-solving abilities to meet ambiguous and multicultural needs
  • Extremely organized with meticulous attention to detail
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and move 50 pounds regularly
  • Stand and walk for an 8-10 hour shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven and slick surfaces
  • Ability to bear exposure to hot and cold environments
NICE TO HAVE
  • Professional working fluency in Japanese (preferred)
  • Experience with Japanese language and culture
  • Experience in the outdoor, retail, or apparel industries
