Job summary

Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc. seeks a motivated Tailman to support underground utility pipe crews in Jacksonville, FL. You will learn to advance toward a Pipelayer role while assisting with pipe installation, trenching, and safety practices on active job sites.

We offer training and development, a strong ESOP culture, and opportunities to grow within a heavy civil construction team based in Jacksonville. This role is on-site and pays hourly.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year on an underground utility pipe crew.
• Experience supporting water, sewer, or storm utility installations.
• Basic rigging, trench work, and grade-checking understanding.
• Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pipelayer with pipe honing, grade checks, and rigging.
• Support pipe layout, alignment, and joint assembly.
• Assist trench operations while maintaining safety practices.
• Help keep materials and tools available to maintain production.
