Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is recruiting for a TAD Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our Structured Papermaking Technology Platform. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to TAD and eTAD paper making assets across Georgia Pacific's North America facilities. This role requires diagnosing operational issues, leading resolution efforts, identifying improvements, developing others' expertise, and maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies. Domestic travel is required regularly.

This role will be based out of one of our facilities in Clatskanie, OR (Wauna); Zachary, LA (Port Hudson); Crossett, AK; Palatka, FL; Green Bay, WI; or Neenah, WI (Neenah Technical Center), with 50% travel between these sites and occasional other locations.

Our Team

The Georgia-Pacific Projects and Engineering Team comprises approximately 130 individuals across the U.S., including engineers, project managers, subject matter experts, and designers working with 22 continuous manufacturing facilities to achieve shared goals.

What You Will Do
  1. Collaborate with personnel at production sites to identify process and equipment improvements through assessments.
  2. Review maintenance and downtime data to identify equipment issues.
  3. Lead efforts to optimize asset performance with support from third parties and internal teams.
  4. Support the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new assets.
  5. Assist asset owners in managing and prioritizing improvement opportunities.
  6. Develop standardized operating and maintenance strategies with SMEs and operations teams.
  7. Mentor and support engineering and operations personnel locally and within the corporate team.
  8. Plan outage activities with operations to ensure goals are met.
  9. Provide technical support for short-term requests across facilities.
  10. Support trials of new technology and evaluate their applicability.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Pulp and Paper Science, Chemical, Process or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of tissue and towel paper making experience in engineering or operations/support roles.
  • Knowledge of paper making equipment and processes, including steam systems, hot air systems, formation, reeling, pressure rolls, and machine clothing.
  • Ability to interpret P&ID diagrams, layouts, and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Over 10 years of experience in tissue/towel machine production optimization.
  • More than 5 years in manufacturing leadership supporting structured paper making.
  • Experience with PI Process Book or similar data historian tools.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC and DCS control systems.
  • Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis methods.
  • Technical design or service experience related to tissue or towel paper making.
