Job summary

Qualifications

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Tactical RF Sensors Subsystem Lead Engineer to be the lead for sensor subsystem in Berkeley, MO, supporting a proprietary Air Dominance Fixed Wing program. You will be joining a fast-paced program where you will be responsible for developing and integrating complex, highly integrated, radio frequency (RF) sensor systems.

In this role, you will be joining a cross-functional team integrating next generation capabilities as part of a very exciting and critically important development effort. Your role will be to oversee and coordinate the work of a team of engineers throughout the various stages of the program development life cycle. You will have the opportunity to operate in an agile development environment to mature our products, work on next generation open-architecture model-based designs, and to collaborate across multiple disciplines.

The day-to-day activities of this position will be a combination of traditional design engineering, coordinating the daily activity of the engineering team, overseeing and approving technical work, collaborating with cross-functional peers, and presenting technical challenges and solutions to leadership. Frequent interaction with program leadership, customers, and industry partners during critical design phases will be key elements of this position. This position will provide the candidate an opportunity to develop their engineering skills with potential growth into a leadership role.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the daily activity of an engineering team using agile toolsets (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)

  • Provide technical leadership and drive technical excellence for all scope of work within a subsystem team

  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches and engineering of subsystem team

  • Work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements

  • Analyze and translate requirements into system, hardware, and software designs and interface specifications

  • Test and validate radio frequency (RF) systems to ensure designs meet operational and functional requirements

  • Manage and monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements

  • Solve problems and provide other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle

  • Research specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs

  • Utilize model-based systems engineering (MBSE) for hardware, software, and performance model development. Utilize MBSE for requirements development, interfaces definition, and traceability

  • Hardware and software development, integration, test, and validation/verification

  • Radio frequency (RF) sensor integration

  • Supplier requirements development, technology evaluation, and integration across multi-disciplined engineering teams

  • Prototype hardware and software evaluation, lab integration, analysis, and test

  • Act as primary interface between program leadership, suppliers, and customers

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 9+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
  • Experience working on tactical RF sensors including radar systems, communication systems, or electronic warfare systems

  • Experience leading a team of engineers

  • Experience with Department of Defense Certification activities

  • Experience working in Cameo or similar model-based systems engineering tools

  • Experience developing requirements and applicable traceability

  • Experience working on development programs using agile/scrum methodology

  • Experience with lab test and verification activities for RF sensors

Summary pay range:

$136,850-$185,150
