Job summary

Harris County is seeking a Part-Time Training Specialist – Medical & Tactical Medicine to serve as the agency SME for emergency medical and tactical medical training initiatives. You will bridge tactical operations, scene safety, and pre-hospital response, while developing curricula and delivering instruction.

The role supports the Operations Support Bureau, with incident response planning and safety program integration. Ten years as a Texas peace officer and a DSHS Paramedic are required.

Qualifications

• Ten years of active, documented experience as a licensed Texas peace officer.
• Ten years of active, documented field experience as a certified Texas DSHS Paramedic.
• Paramedic Certification in good standing (Texas DSHS).
• TCOLE Instructor Certificate (or ability to obtain within timeframe).
• DSHS Instructor Certificate (or ability to obtain within timeframe).
• Valid Texas Driver License and ability to obtain agency clearances.

Responsibilities

• Serve as agency SME for emergency medical care and TECC/TCCC.
• Develop, review, and author curricula, lesson plans, scenarios and media.
• Lead and co-instruct classroom, scenarios, hybrid, and field training.
• Manage training equipment, manikins, materials, and field exercises.
