Role Description The TAB Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in San Antonio, TX. In this role, the technician performs Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) of HVAC systems in commercial and institutional facilities, following project specifications and company standards. Typical responsibilities include measuring air and water flows, verifying equipment performance, documenting readings, and assisting with troubleshooting system issues under the guidance of field supervisors. The TAB Technician will prepare accurate field reports, maintain test instruments and tools, and communicate findings clearly to project managers and clients. The role also involves adhering to safety protocols, traveling to job sites within Texas (and occasionally beyond), and collaborating with the team to support commissioning activities and system fine-tuning.
Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills in HVAC system testing, adjusting, and balancing, including reading plans and specifications and using measurement instruments for air and hydronic systems.
  • Candidates should possess skills in technical documentation and reporting, including recording field data accurately, preparing test reports, and maintaining organized project records.
  • Candidates should possess skills in basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to help identify performance issues and support corrective actions on HVAC equipment and controls.
  • Candidates should possess skills in workplace safety and site practices, including following safety procedures, using personal protective equipment, and working professionally in active construction or occupied facilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework in HVAC, mechanical systems, or related fields is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, equipment submittals, and manufacturer documentation is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail, mathematical aptitude for measurements and calculations, and reliable time management are important.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites; willingness to work in field conditions and occasionally outside standard hours as project needs require.
