The Fiber Network Systems Architect Engineer's role is to develop and evolve technical network and service architectures and design strategies to maintain, enhance, and evolve the T-Mobile Fiber portfolio. Specific tasks may include the creation, adaption, or revision of detailed schematics of network and service architecture, hardware and software selections, and implementation techniques and processes. May be required to perform, evaluate, or interpret network simulation, test results, or leading-edge technology studies. Technical documentation and presentation skills are required in order to translate complex ideas to a wide range of audiences. Influence and drive industry forums. Works on technical assignments that are semi routine in nature but recognizes that need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments.

This is a hybrid position required to be working in-office at least 3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical System Expertise: Understands system protocols, how systems operate and data flows. Aware of current technology benefits. Expected to independently complete appropriate network and service architecture, design strategies and standards. Understands the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete design work. Independent study of current technology is expected. Understands business value of technology concepts.

  • Technical Engineering Services: Supports engineering projects by active contribution to the application of engineering techniques; conducting tests and inspections; preparing reports and calculations. Expected to supervise associate engineers on occasion. Contributes to procedures and processes to validate and enhance and optimize network architecture. Performs validation tests and inspection techniques and effectively documents results.

  • Innovation: Presents new ideas which improve an existing system/process/service. Question and express new perspectives based on independent study of the industry trends and benefits. Review current company architecture, design strategies, standards and processes, highlight questions, and review with mentors to explore process refinement. Proposes and evaluates new technology that may solve business problems.

  • Technical Writing: Maintains knowledge of existing technology documents. Writes basic documentation on how technology works. Contributes clear documentation on systems and services used. Able to document systems architecture, design strategies, standards and business requirements. Provides technical data for incorporation into internal presentations that may highlight system impact.

  • Technical Leadership: Collaborates with technical teams and utilizes system expertise to deliver technical solutions. Continuously learns new technologies. Understanding of technology roadmaps. Participates in lab and field trial activities in support of Proof of Concept.

  • Technology Strategy: Understands current technology that supports business goals. Evaluates technologies and presents results within own Director organization.

  • Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study. Advanced degree preferred
  • 2 year of technical engineering experience
  • In-depth knowledge of telecommunications with a focus on FTTH, XGS-PON, ACS’s, API’s
  • Familiarity of Oracle Cloud applications, BSS/OSS operations, Salesforce along with a strong knowledge of industry standards and automation
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Base Pay Range: $78,800 - $142,100Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
