Job summary

Air Force Civilian Service in Universal City, TX, seeks a civilian Simulator Pilot Instructor to support the T-7 fighter/bomber program at Randolph AFB. The role requires extensive flight experience and instructional ability to deliver Live, Virtual and Constructive training and associated courses.

You will teach fundamental and advanced maneuvers, assess students, and ensure compliance with prescribed syllabi.

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is currently looking civilian Simulator Pilot Instructor, GS-2181-12 at the 12th Training Squadron at Randolph AFB, Universal City, TX.

Superior Qualifications Pay/Step, And Leave Accrual Based On Experience.

180-day waiver not required for retired military members.

Special Salary Rate: $103,000 - $134,000

Recruitment and Retention Incentives may be available base eligibility.

In this role, you will provide Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) 4th and 5th generation fighter and bomber aircraft simulator and academic courses following the prescribed syllabus for the T-7 fighter/bomber training program. Instructs students in fundamental and foundational fighter and bomber aircraft maneuvers and capabilities necessary to successfully complete fighter and bomber primary courses and execute operational unit missions.

Minimum Flight Hour Requirements (Flight Logs Are Mandatory)
  • 1500 Total Flight Hours
  • 250 Pilot-In-Command Hours
  • 75 Night Flying Hours
  • 75 Instrument Hours (at least 10 hours must be in actual instrument conditions)
  • 500 Instructor Flight Hours (Fixed Wing)
Mandatory Documents
  • Flight Logs (military and civilian)
  • DD 214 (if applicable)
  • SF 50 (if applicable)
Additional Requirements
  • o Must be a US Civilian
  • o Experience as a rated military aviator (pilot) is critical to the successful completion of assigned duties.
  • o Fighter aviation experience is required
  • o Previous experience as an instructor in a military aircraft is highly desirable
  • o Knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures, advanced instrument techniques, aerobatic maneuvers, close formation flying, high-speed low-level flight, aerial refueling, aggressor and defensive combat, and range missions, as well as knowledge of 4th and 5th generation fighter and bomber aircraft, and of the operation, characteristics, and limitations of the corresponding aircraft simulator.
  • o Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.
  • o Skill in the use of a variety of computer applications and software, to include simulator systems sufficient to meet desired learning objectives.
  • o Skill in demonstrating flying procedures and maneuvers in an aircraft simulator.
Desired Experience: 4th and/or 5th generation fighter type aircraft, airborne radar and/or targeting pods, and/or Weapons School or USN Weapons School (Top Gun)
