Job summary

Amentum seeks a T-38 Aircraft Branch Manager to direct the Maintenance Department overseeing 63 T-38 aircraft and 90–100 personnel. The role ensures safe maintenance execution, flight schedules, and adherence to government and contract requirements.

Required are eight years of related experience (five in DoD) or ten years without a degree, plus seven years of supervisory experience in aviation or manufacturing. Strong leadership, risk management, and regulatory compliance are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in related field plus eight years related experience, five years DoD experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of ten years directly related experience, seven years DoD experience.
  • Minimum of seven years supervisorial experience with general aviation, military aircraft, or manufacturing.
  • Must understand Government publications and technical orders.
  • Must perform analytical analysis and apply risk management techniques.
  • Preferred: experience in conflict resolution, team building, and coaching; prior unionized workforce experience.

Responsibilities

  • Directs maintenance department operations, ensuring safe and compliant execution of maintenance and flying schedules per contract requirements.
  • Enforces adherence to technical data and procedures; adjusts resources to meet production needs.
  • Allocates supervisory coverage for each shift and manages the certification roster.
  • Ensures accurate daily documentation of maintenance actions and records in the system.
  • Reviews performance history and initiates actions to meet workload and address deficiencies.
  • Maintains maintenance planning cycle and ensures qualified personnel with proper tools perform tasks.
  • Liaises with production supervisor to prevent disruptions and communicates on-base disaster response duties.

Job description

The T-38 Aircraft Branch Manager directs and coordinates the overall function of the T-38 Maintenance Department. Scope includes 63 T-38 aircraft and 90 to 100 personnel.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the execution of aircraft maintenance, flying schedules, and other Branch activities are being accomplished in a safe appropriate manner acceptable to the Government and in accordance with the contract performance work statement/statement of work.
  • Enforces strict adherence to technical data and management procedures. - Adjusts resources to meet production requirements.
  • Assigns adequate supervisory coverage for each shift.
  • Manages the special certification roster.
  • Ensure accurate daily documentation of maintenance actions.
  • Assess the suitability of aircraft with repeat, recur and cannot duplicate discrepancies for continued flight.
  • Reviews and evaluates management and production effectiveness. Analyzes personnel and equipment performance history using quality assurance reports. Initiates management actions to meet new workloads or correct reported/perceived deficiencies.
  • Manages the maintenance planning cycle.
  • Ensures only qualified personnel accomplish maintenance with the appropriate equipment and tools.
  • Ensures compliance with safety directives, appropriate occupational safety and health standards, and applicable industrial safety publications. Those occupational training requirements that require documentation will be annotated on the appropriate records.
  • Establishes procedures to minimize foreign object damage and dropped objects.
  • Ensures pilot reported discrepancies, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance actions are entered and completed in aircraft forms and the Maintenance Information System. This includes maintenance performed by the Maintenance Support Branch.
  • Advises the production supervisor of conditions that may disrupt the orderly and controlled execution of the maintenance plan.
  • Fully understand and be prepared to implement specific on-base disaster control duties and responsibilities pertaining to aircraft/SE movement and personnel evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure Aircraft Maintenance Department Director is kept informed of all maintenance activities.
  • Manage vehicles and facilities.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
  • This position requires a minimum 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, and some weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or associate degree in related field, and eight (8) years relative experience, five (5) years of which must be Department of Defense experience.

In lieu of a degree, minimum of ten (10) years of directly related experience, seven (7) years of which must be Department of Defense experience.

Minimum of seven (7) years supervisorial experience with general aviation, military aircraft, or manufacturing.

Must possess ability to understand and comply with Government publications and technical orders.

Must possess ability to perform analytical analysis and apply risk management techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in conflict resolution, team building, and coaching skills.

Prior experience with unionized work force highly desired.

Compensation Details:

Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00
