Job summary

Equus Compute Solutions is seeking a Systems Technician III to join our on-site production team in City of Industry, CA. The role focuses on hands-on assembly, testing, and repair of server hardware to meet quality and schedule requirements.

You will isolate hardware and configuration failures, replace defective components, and document repair actions. This position emphasizes practical hardware knowledge and teamwork on the manufacturing floor.

Qualifications

• Three or more years hands-on experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting server hardware in manufacturing, data-center, repair, or field-service environments.
• Experience as Server Technician II or comparable senior hardware technician role preferred.
• Strong practical knowledge of server components, hardware fault isolation, RAID, BIOS, IPMI, firmware, and system bring-up.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux as they relate to system imaging, hardware validation, diagnostics, and test—not enterprisesystem administration.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, configurations sheets, wiring or component diagrams, test procedures, and quality documentation.
• Comfort using hand tools and working carefully with sensitive electronic components in an ESD-controlled production environment.
• Strong attention to detail, ownership, communication, and follow-through in a schedule-driven team setting.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds, with occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, configure, test, and repair server systems following work orders and build instructions.
• Install, replace, and verify components such as motherboards, processors, memory, storage devices, RAID controllers, and power supplies.
• Perform component swaps, firmware updates, and rework to correct production or test failures.
• Complete BIOS, IPMI, DMI, controller firmware, and system-level configurations to validate finished products.

WhatYou’llDo

Build,Repair,andReworkServerSystems

• Reviewworkorders,billsofmaterial,configurationsheets,andbuildinstructionsbeforebeginningwork.
• Assembleanddisassembleserver,rack,edge,andothercomputesystemsusingapprovedtools,procedures,andESDpractices.
• Install,replace,andverifycomponentssuchasmotherboards,processors,memory,storagedevices,RAID/HBAcontrollers,networkadapters,powersupplies,fans,cables,andrelatedhardware.
• Performcomponentswaps,cablecorrections,firmwareupdates,andotherreworkneededtocorrectproductionortestfailures.
• CompleteBIOS,IPMI,DMI,controllerfirmware,andothersystem-levelconfigurationrequiredtovalidatethefinishedproduct.

TestandValidateFinishedSystems

• Runburn-in,functionaltesting,diagnostics,inspection,HiPot,andothervalidationstepsaccordingtoworkinstructions.
• ConfigureandvalidateRAIDsolutions,includingRAID1,5,6,and10,hotspares,andapplicableWindowsorLinuxRAIDconfigurations.
• Loadoperating-systemimages,drivers,firmware,andrequiredutilitiesonlyasneededtobuildandvalidatecustomersystems.
• Verifysystemperformance,componentrecognition,bootbehavior,storageconfiguration,andtestcompletionbeforereleasetothenextproductionstep.

TroubleshootServerFailures

• Diagnoseassembly,power-on,POST,boot,storage,memory,thermal,firmware,andotherhardwareortestfailures.
• Usetestresults,errorcodes,systemlogs,visualinspection,andstructuredfaultisolationtoidentifythelikelycauseofafailure.
• Independentlyresolveroutineissues,performapprovedrepairsandrework,andescalatecomplexorrecurringproblemstotheManufacturingSupervisororEngineering.
• Supportnonconformanceinvestigation,containment,root-causeanalysis,correctiveactions,andCAPAactivitiesasassigned.
• Helpnewproductintroductions,engineeringevaluations,pilotbuilds,andproductionchangesmovesuccessfullythroughassemblyandtest.

• Accuratelyrecordserialnumbers,componentchanges,defectinformation,repairactions,testresults,anddispositionofsystems.
• Identifyerrorsorgapsinworkinstructions,configurationsheets,andcontrolleddocuments;communicateneededupdatesthroughtheproperprocess.
• Followsafety,quality,workmanship,ESD,andprocess-compliancerequirementsatalltimes.
