Job summary

Apple Inc. in Cupertino, CA seeks a Systems Software Engineer to develop and support technologies for cloud, data center, and silicon prototype systems, aligning hardware and software across Apple’s platform architecture.

You will share ownership of code, services, and developer experience, collaborating with silicon engineering teams to push forward the next generation of Apple hardware and software architecture. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with Go, Swift or C++ and scripting with Python or Bash.
• 3+ years in the industry.
• Familiarity with HTTP, DNS, RPC, databases and OS concepts.
• Knowledge of Cloud security concepts and auth frameworks.
• Experience with containers (Docker, Podman, Apple Container).
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with AI Agents or LLMs in software development.
• Exposure to Silicon workflows.

Responsibilities

Description

Apple's Platform Architecture group is seeking a systems software engineer who will develop and support new technologies to support best-in-class system prototypes to support cloud, data center, and silicon development. You will work with and support our world leading silicon engineering teams on next generation chips, which end up in the hands of millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with internal customers to understand their requirements and workflows and propose new features and ecosystem changes to streamline their experience using the platform.
• Share ownership of the team's codebase, service architecture, tools, and developer experience and maintain a high-quality bar to ensure optimal development velocity.
• Work independently and lead deliverables to different teams.
• Occasional travel to development groups in the US and overseas.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field.
• Experience with programming (Go, Swift or C++) and scripting (e.g. Python, Bash).

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Understanding and practical experience with HTTP, DNS, RPC frameworks, databases, and operating systems.
• Good understanding of Cloud security concepts, plus knowledge of Authentication/Authorization frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of containers (Docker, Podman, Apple Container)
• Excellent communication, analytical and documentation skills.
• Experience using AI Agents or LLMs in software development.
• Exposure to Silicon workflows.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $225,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
