Job description

**Job Description**

BAE Systems, Inc. is currently seeking a Cyber Security Engineer / Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join an innovative team in Washington, DC. This role involves supporting the development of mission-critical applications for a federal government client focused on national security.

The ISSE will support mission-critical applications by obtaining and maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO) in accordance with the customer's Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) security policies. The role requires collaboration with enterprise stakeholders and support for security initiatives, implementing innovative security solutions to enhance enterprise capabilities accessible to the entire workforce.

**Major Duties**

  1. Collaborate with key stakeholders to align security engineering initiatives with operational needs.
  2. Interact with technical leads, developers, and system owners to ensure ATO security packages adhere to FISMA and NIST guidelines.
  3. Provide security artifacts and evidence for system security control questions.
  4. Review system security audit logs and implement corrective actions as needed.
  5. Perform security evaluations, including audits and control assessments.
  6. Update technical security guides and diagrams for mission-critical systems.
  7. Stay informed on the latest security trends and technologies, applying forward-thinking to support operational needs and future technical strategies.

**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering, system design, configuration management, or related areas.
  • Minimum of 3 years in system security analysis, secure system engineering, and protocol/interface standards.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Linux (RHEL7/8) and Windows Server 2019/2022.
  • Ability to work in an Agile environment using sprints and Azure Boards.
  • Experience creating and validating evidence for NIST security controls.
  • Strong desire to learn and improve security processes.

**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**

  • Same as required skills, emphasizing experience in software engineering, security analysis, and cloud systems.

**Pay Range:** $77,809 - $132,275

Note: Salaries depend on factors like skills, education, experience, and market conditions.
