Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory is seeking a Systems Research and Development Engineer to join the ASE Department. The role focuses on rapid development of complex engineering systems with cross-disciplinary integration and DoD relevance, working with stakeholders to define architectures and ensure project success.

Candidates should have a technical background in Electrical or Systems Engineering and experience with detailed design, software/firmware, and strong communication

Qualifications

• Technical background in Electrical or Systems Engineering.
• Experience with detailed design and implementation of electrical circuits, software, and firmware.
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Interface with project stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure success.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and subject matter experts on project delivery.
• Define system control and data architectures and perform systems engineering activities across the DoD product lifecycle.
• Travel for stakeholder engagements as needed.
• For higher level: mentor engineers, monitor funding and budgets, review progress, and communicate with external audiences.
