Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr Principal Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer to develop and analyze models and simulations using the AF SIM framework. The role focuses on missile defense, space, and intelligence programs, requiring a TS clearance and up to 10% travel.

Ideal candidates will have MS&A experience in systems engineering, strong programming with Python/MATLAB/SQL, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while communicating complex results to diverse customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8+ years of related work, or Master’s with 6 years, or PhD with 4 years.
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance required to start.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
• Experience with Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) to inform systems engineering in the left side of the vee.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze models and simulations using the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM).
• Inform system engineering decisions with MS&A results and provide technical insight to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and effectively communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will support a growing portfolio of programs and IRADs that focus on missile defense, space, and intelligence and will support various modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) project teams in evaluating the mission performance of military systems. Domestic travel (up to 10%) may be required, dependent on program needs.

This position will specifically focus on the development and analysis of models and simulations utilizing the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) Framework.

Basic Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Software Engineer – Level 4:Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and8 years ofrelated work experience, or aMaster's Degreeand 6 years of related work experience, or 4 years of related work experience with a PhD.
• Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
• Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
• Experience using Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) to inform the development of systems along the left side of the “systems engineering vee”.
• Experience using Python, MATLAB, SQL, or related technologies to interpret complex data sets.
• Comfortable communicating technical information to technical and non-technical customers.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior-level engineers.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
