Job summary

Aquila Technology seeks a Systems Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer to design and maintain high‑speed data transfer, signal processing, and real‑time control software for national defense programs near Lexington, MA. Hybrid work with onsite 3 days weekly.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in modeling, simulation, OR and real‑time systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test and document modular software in sensor frameworks.
  • Optimize latency/throughput on HPC for real‑time data collection.

Systems Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer
Clearance Level: Must be able to obtain an Active Secret Clearance due to the nature of the work- Must be US Citizen

Location: Must live within 100 miles of Lexington, MA - Hybrid - Individual works from home or off-site for a portion of their schedule and within a routinely commutable distance from the Lexington facility. Candidate should expect to work onsite 3 days a week. The breakdown will be approximately 80/20. This may end up being some weeks more remote and some weeks more onsite; it will change with program needs.

About the Role:

Aquila Technology is seeking a Thermal Engineer to support one of the nation’s premier defense research organizations. The team develops and maintains analysis, simulation, control, and signal processing software, as part of its emphasis on prototyping, modeling, and field testing of high‑performance sensors. The team needs a Systems Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer to develop and maintain high speed data transfer and recording, signal processing, systems analysis, real‑time control, and visualization software. These tools incorporate a variety of languages as well as both open‑source and in‑house software tools.

Must have 5 years of experience with the following:
  • Modeling and Simulation

Responsibilities:
  • Design, specify, implement, test, maintain and document modular software functionality within existing sensor simulation frameworks utilizing modern software engineering techniques, open-source programming tools, and Laboratory‑specific support processes
  • Optimize code latency and throughput on high‑performance computing platforms for real‑time, distributed data collection and signal processing applications
  • Collaborate, develop and manage software products through effective use of version control and continuous integration softwareOrganize multiple assignments for separate programs to meet aggressive schedules with high‑quality products
  • Participate in defining, describing and implementing deliverable capabilities
  • Evaluate and propose use of open source and commercial software, frameworks, libraries and tools where applicable
  • Provide system administration for both Windows and Linux operating systems, including remote and virtual capabilities
  • Work independently and in small groups with frequent (daily) peer interaction and less frequent (weekly) supervision
  • Participate in occasional field testing of developed systems

Tuition & Training Reimbursement - 5K annually for pre‑approved, Eligible full‑time team members who have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment may apply for tuition reimbursement for approved, job‑related courses taken through an accredited college or university. Team members must achieve a grade of “B” or better to qualify for reimbursement. Aquila will reimburse up to $5,000 per fiscal year for tuition expenses only. Expenses related to training programs, certifications, books, materials, meals, transportation, or other non‑tuition costs are not eligible under the Tuition Reimbursement Program. All tuition reimbursement requests must be submitted to and approved by the team member’s Manager prior to course registration. Reimbursement will be issued upon successful course completion and submission of final grades and proof of payment.

401K with Fidelity - Eligible to participate following 90 days of employment. Company match on employee contribution:

  • $1/$1 up to 3%, then .50 cents / $1 for 4th and 5th %s
  • Fully vested from day one
  • Company match does not apply to catch‑up contribution
Cell Phone & Internet Reimbursed

up to $150 monthly to cover cell phone, data, and home internet expenses. Aquila Technology will reimburse team members who work from home ONLY for cell phone/mobile device fees for work‑related communications and/or operations each month. Employees eligible for this benefit must work remote 2 days a week or more to qualify.

Buy Your Own Device (BYOD)

Team members are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,500 every three (3) years for the purchase of electronic equipment used to access corporate services. To qualify for this benefit, employees must have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment and must agree to and sign the Device Minimum Configuration Form prior to reimbursement. Electronic devices eligible under the Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) program are limited to cell phones, laptops, and tablets.

Work location:

Travel:

Estimated at 5% only (domestic)

Clearance Level:

Interim Clearance is sufficient for the start of this position. Interview process: Initial pre-screen with hiring manager. If candidate advances, next round of interviews will be with the Group Leaders and Technical Staff Team.
