Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden’s LuEsther T. Mertz Library is seeking a Systems Librarian to lead the library's systems infrastructure, applications, and discovery tools.

You will collaborate with IT, staff, and vendors to plan, implement, and assess technology, including AI-enabled tools, to support research, digitization, and collections management. Responsibilities include upgrades, documentation, website maintenance, training, and providing 2–3 hours of public service weekly, with a focus on

Qualifications

• Master's in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to learn new technologies.
• Experience with ILS, discovery platforms, and electronic resource management.
• Knowledge of data modeling, SQL, APIs, and interoperability.
• Proficiency with web technologies HTML and CSS.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain core library systems and integrations.
• Collaborate with IT, library staff, and vendors to enhance services.
• Collect and report system usage and performance data.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and standards.
• Maintain library website and web services.
• Provide training and support to library staff.
• Lead system upgrades and major technology projects.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for library use.
• Provide weekly public service coverage 2-3 hours.
• Coordinate interns and project staff.
