Job summary

Rippling is seeking a Systems Lead for US Tax Operations. You will evaluate and shape AI-enabled tools, own the systems and data infrastructure, and deliver reliable dashboards and pipelines for leadership across the department.

You will partner with managers to reduce manual work and enforce governance, bringing engineering discipline to a fast-paced, partially automated environment. This is a remote role based in the United States.

Qualifications

• Hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL across a modern data platform (Snowflake/Databricks).
• Experience building dashboards and reporting with a BI tool such as Power BI.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience spanning project execution to technical build.

About the team

US Tax Operations resolves tax notices that clients receive from the IRS and state agencies, and runs the filings and payments work that prevents those notices in the first place. The team includes a notice-resolution organization of roughly 50 specialists across 7 managers and 2 pillar leads, and a filings, payments, and amendments organization of 4 teams under a third pillar lead.

About the role

US Tax Operations has been given broad access to AI tooling, including Rippling's own AI platform, to speed up how the department builds and automates its workflows. Without a dedicated technical owner, that access has produced a lot of partially built tools with no reliable way to verify whether they work or are accurate. We're hiring a Systems Lead to bring real engineering discipline to this effort: evaluating what's been built, fixing or replacing what doesn't hold up, and owning the systems and data infrastructure the department runs on going forward.

What you'll do

• Own the technical systems and data infrastructure behind US Tax Operations reporting, automation, and workflow tools.
• Evaluate the AI-assisted and automated tools currently being built informally across the team, and decide what's accurate and durable versus what needs to be rebuilt.
• Build dashboards, data pipelines, and reporting that give managers and leadership reliable, self-service visibility into volume, performance, and quality.
• Partner directly with managers to find where automation and AI tooling can reduce manual work, and build well-governed solutions instead of one-off scripts.
• Bring technical standards and review discipline to an organization that hasn't had a dedicated technical owner before.

What we're looking for

• Hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience on a modern data platform such as Snowflake or Databricks.
• Experience building dashboards and reporting with a BI tool such as Power BI or equivalent.
• Comfortable evaluating and working with AI-assisted tooling and automation platforms. Direct experience with Rippling AI is a plus but not required.
• 3-6 years of relevant experience spanning project-level execution to technical build.
• Ability to work independently, assess partially built tools critically, and bring a systems-thinking, engineering-minded approach to an operations environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in an operations, support, or shared-services environment.
• Experience introducing technical standards or governance to a team that didn't previously have them.
