Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Systems Integration & Reliability Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team developing advanced optical sensing and imaging systems for healthcare applications.

Our technology combines optical imaging, spectroscopy, multiple sensing modalities, embedded electronics, and edge AI in an integrated platform. This position will play a critical role in transforming R&D prototypes into robust, reliable systems ready for clinical validation.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the assembly, integration, configuration, and testing of multidisciplinary imaging and sensing systems.
  • Integrate optical components, cameras, spectroscopy modules, sensors, electronics, embedded computing, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Configure and support edge AI/edge computing hardware and associated software.
  • Troubleshoot system-level electronic, software, firmware, optical, communication, and mechanical issues.
  • Reproduce failures, perform root-cause investigations, and work closely with electrical, optical, mechanical, software, and AI engineers to implement solutions.
  • Develop and execute functional, integration, reliability, and burn-in testing.
  • Ensure systems are stable, repeatable, calibrated, and ready for deployment in clinical validation studies.
  • Support systems in the field and help resolve technical issues that could affect clinical study operations.
  • Maintain and improve BOMs, assembly procedures, test procedures, troubleshooting documentation, and system configuration records.
  • Coordinate component procurement, inventory, suppliers, lead times, substitutions, and other supply-chain activities.
  • Identify component risks and work with engineering teams to qualify alternative or second-source components.
  • Develop standardized assembly and testing procedures and train technicians and team members.
  • Support engineering documentation and quality activities associated with medical-device development.
What We’re Looking For
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience integrating and troubleshooting complex electromechanical or medical-device systems.
  • Strong practical understanding of electronics, sensors, embedded systems, and hardware/software integration.
  • Comfortable using laboratory tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to systematically troubleshoot problems spanning hardware and software rather than focusing on only one engineering discipline.
  • Experience with system assembly, verification/testing, BOM management, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work directly with suppliers and manage component availability and supply-chain issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical devices or clinical research systems
  • Optical imaging, spectroscopy, cameras, LEDs/lasers, or optical sensors
  • Embedded Linux and edge computing platforms
  • NVIDIA Jetson/Orin or similar edge AI hardware
  • Python, C/C++, or software diagnostic tools
  • System calibration and quantitative imaging
  • Design controls, verification and validation, risk management, or medical-device QMS
  • Reliability engineering, failure analysis, and root-cause investigation
  • Prototype-to-production or design-transfer activities
The Person We’re Looking For

This is a hands-on engineering position, not a purely managerial role. We are looking for someone who enjoys being in the lab, assembling systems, investigating failures, working directly with engineers to solve problems, and taking ownership of a system until it performs reliably.

The successful candidate will become a key technical bridge between R&D engineering, supply chain, system integration, quality, and clinical validation.

If you enjoy turning sophisticated optical and AI technologies into dependable real-world systems, we’d like to hear from you.
